Reddit Secret Santa

This year, I participated in Reddit Secret Santa.

For those of you who don't know, Reddit constantly has gift exchange activities going on and for the month of December, they do Secret Santa.

Reddit Gifts is an online gift exchange that connects internet strangers-friends.

The rules are simple. You sign up on Reddit, fill out a short profile of your likes and dislikes and other relevant information, and you wait until you get your match.

Once you are assigned a match, you have a deadline on which you are expected to shift your gift. The minimum spend is at least $20.00 for a gift excluding shipping.

So anyway, I got matched with someone who lives all the way in Canada, and I thought it would be cool to send him a subscription box full of goodies that he's interested in.

Once you have sent out your gift, you are required to post proof on the site. Proof such as tracking number and receipts. Though these are merely for statistics purposes.

My Secret Santa sent me a lovely gift.

Such a lovely bunch.

Here they are brightening up our little start-up office.

Once you have received your gift, you are also then required to submit a post about it and upload photos of it to the Gift Exchange gallery.

Here's the post I made : https://www.redditgifts.com/gallery/gift/flowers-13/

It's kind of sad that the flowers died shortly though. I would have preferred to receive something that wasn't just briefly alive.

Also, the whole point why I joined this was to experience the thrill of unboxing. I wanted to unwrap something. It wasn't exactly such a surprise to discover flowers when the box it came with said that they were flowers.

But anyway, it's always lovely to receive something. A lot of people join these gift exchanges and don't receive anything at all.

Though, some kind souls have signed up to be re-matchers. These are generous people who would rather give than receive.

Happy Holidays!
